ARIA AWAKENS

This collection has been a long time in the making. It grew from a desire to honour birds and all they bring into our lives—their beauty and colour, their song, and the inspiration they offer.

A few years ago, I lost two precious women: my mother and my closest friend from high school. Each of them held something profoundly meaningful within me. In the wake of their passing, my connection to certain bird species became a bridge—linking me to these beloved women in the spirit world.

When my mother died, the blackbird began appearing every day, visiting my window and building its nest in the climbing rose outside my studio. Even now, whenever I see a blackbird, I feel her presence close by. And for my friend, it was the kookaburra—her spirit bird—whose laughter seemed to echo more often and more vividly, as though she were suddenly nearer than ever before.

In creating this collection, an imaginary Goddess came into being—one who had never existed before. Her name is Aria, inspired by the most beautiful song ever sung. Aria was born with the head of a woman and the body of a radiant, golden-feathered bird as beautiful and powerful as an eagle. Her voice was so enchanting that it was said to halt time itself.

She offered the world its very first song, and with each new melody she sang, a new bird species emerged. Every species was born from a single note—one that would become its own unique song to share with the world. At last, the world became filled with every note and melody imaginable, surrounding us with the most precious sound: a symphony of hope, love, connection, and inspiration.

It is my hope, that by wearing a piece from this collection that you will connect with the qualities of that bird and remember those qualities within yourself......... or perhaps the piece may support you to connect with a lost loved one who has passed over and carries the qualities of that particular bird.
